Wait for user feedback before the party starts

You launched your product! Congratulations! You and your team poured your heart and soul into this project, and now it's finally out there in the wild. But hold on a minute before you start celebrating with those metaphorical victory cigars. A successful launch is just the beginning.

Now comes the crucial part: actively listening to your users and addressing any issues that pop up.

Think of it like this: you've just opened a brand new restaurant. The doors are open, the food is fantastic, but if you don't pay attention to customer feedback – the favourite dish that disappears from the menu, the need for delivery service – your reputation will suffer. The same goes for your product.

Here's how to stay on top of user feedback and ensure your app thrives after launch:

1. Multiple listening posts

Don't rely on just one channel to hear what your users are saying. Here are a few key spots to keep an eye on:

  • Customer Support: Your customer support team is on the front lines, so they'll be the first to hear about any issues users are facing. Analyze support tickets to identify common problems.

  • Amazon/App Store/Play Store Reviews: This is a goldmine of user feedback, both positive and negative. Read through reviews regularly and identify recurring themes.

  • Social Media: People love to talk about their experiences online. Monitor mentions of your app on social media platforms to see what users are saying.

  • In-App Feedback: Make it easy for users to provide feedback directly within your app. Implement a feedback button or survey that allows users to share their thoughts and suggestions.

2. Prioritise and respond

Not all feedback is created equal. Some issues might be minor inconveniences, while others could be critical bugs. Here's how to prioritise:

  • Severity: Fix critical bugs that prevent users from completing core tasks first.

  • Frequency: Address issues that are reported by multiple users as a priority.

  • Impact: Consider how a particular issue is affecting the overall user experience.

3. Transparency is key

  • Acknowledge user feedback publicly. Let users know you're listening and working on addressing their concerns.

  • Provide updates on your progress. If a fix is taking longer than expected, keep users informed.

4. Learn and adapt

User feedback is a treasure trove of information. Use it to improve your app and make it even better.

  • Look for patterns in the feedback. What features are users struggling with? What new features are they requesting?

  • Use this information to inform future updates and development efforts.

By actively monitoring user feedback and addressing issues promptly, you can build trust with your users and ensure your app's long-term success. Remember, a successful launch is just the first step. Consistent improvement based on user feedback is the key to keeping your app relevant in today's competitive market.
